Allow me to introduce myself...

My professional expertise
I am a practicing physician in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at a Boston based academic Medical Center.

Hence, I treat patients who have difficulties with their breathing.

I am also a yoga teacher. So you won’t be surprised to learn that in my professional life, I have strived to integrate the best of modern medicine with the essence of Yogic wisdom.

This is how PranayamaRx was born!
My story
Growing up, I was surrounded by medical professionals in my immediate family. My medical studies were undertaken in Bombay, India and then I completed my postgraduate training in Boston, U.S.A. I devote a considerable amount of time to teaching and research in a clinical setting.

I have been profoundly influenced by the teachings of Shri O.P. Tiwari, Yogi Eric Walrabenstein and Dr. Deepak Chopra. My teachers have emphasized the need for the systematic study of yogic practice using the scientific method.
Breathing is the first and last act of Life. Yet most of us take it for granted.

What is PranayamaRx?

We integrate western medicine with eastern yogic principles
We explore the influence of yogic breathing wisdom on human physiology to provide a powerful methodology for healthy living, disease prevention and targeted therapy for certain clinical disorders.

The mission:

At PranayamaRx we believe in the power of the western allopathic paradigm and the precision of wearable technology as much as we value the ancient time-tested wisdom tradition of yoga. Our goal is to bridge the mind-body gap, help people consciously heal and regain the best of their vitality, one breath at a time.

Our vision:

PranayamaRx envisions itself as a platform for the medical and yogic worlds to unite. It provides an integrated and safe approach to breathing, combining medical research on breathing physiology with ancient yogic breathing techniques into a holistic methodology.

Why I created PranayamaRx?

Our purpose

The challenge

Our planet is asphyxiating, reeling from the devastation of the Covid-19 pandemic, heightened stress and global warming. In addition, many doctors, nurses and other frontline workers themselves are silently overwhelmed by their long hours of patient-care. Caregiver burnout has reached staggering levels in the medical community.

The western medical approach provides solutions that are incomplete despite being well intentioned. Many patients have a mistrust of pharmaceuticals.

Our solution

Offering a methodology on conscious breathing or “Breath-Fullness”, that integrates medical knowledge with ancient yogic wisdom. Here, users will find a space to learn these practices with attention to safety and scientific validation.

The results of PranayamaRx

For the practitioner: It will help in restoring balance to the Body-Breath-Mind. This will result in more efficient and slower breathing patterns, while awake and asleep with measurable results in 4 to 6 months.
For caregivers: It will provide a methodology for stress relief. It will also serve as a resource to enhance their conventional treatments with the scientific rigor of Breath-based research.

The future of our journey

PranayamaRx will continue to participate in clinical research on these time-tested breathing practices.
We hope to bring together the best minds in the medical and yoga spheres to create treatment algorithms for clinical disorders.
The need for scientific validation of these techniques is critical to helping gain the trust of the medical fraternity, thereby allowing them to integrate these practices into mainstream Medicine.
